ISO-26262:2018 Functional Safety Red Belt Certification

The automotive functional safety ISO 26262 is the state of the art for automotive safety domain therefore it includes the safety requirements which shall be applied during the development of a safety critical product, tool or processes. The competence management clause of ISO 26262 requires that the organisation shall ensure that the persons involved in the execution of the safety lifecycle have a sufficient level of skills, competences and qualifications corresponding to their responsibilities. This course provides a general overview on the structure and principle of the standard and its requirements.

Our course is structured based on a top-down approach allowing trainees to book one or multiple days tailored to their needs. However, the exam on the fifth day requires that all training days (1-to-4) have been followed by the trainee.

Day 1 – ISO-26262 Overview, management and concept phase for functional safety (FuSa) according to part 1,2,3,8,9,10

  1. Introduction to ISO 26262 and its scope
  2. Rigor of standards and state of the art
  3. Safety culture
  4. Overall safety management and supplier/customer management
  5. Functional safety management during development
  6. Tool qualification
  7. Concept phase of safety development
  8. Hazard analysis & risk analysis (HARA)
  9. Identification of functional safety requirements from safety goal & ASIL decomposition
  10.  Functional safety concept
  11. ASIL Decomposition

 

Day 2 – ISO-26262 Safety development at system and HW level, production and operation

  1. Specification of the technical safety requirements
  2. Technical Safety Concept Methodology (ASIL decomposition, TSR allocation)
  3. Principles for system architectural design
  4. System and hardware testing and verification
  5. Safety validation
  6. Functional safety assessment
  7. Production of a safety product
  8. Specification of HW safety requirements
  9. Principles for HW architectural design (structure, independence)

 

Day 3 – ISO-26262 Safety design at HW level, HW safety analysis and safety element out of context

  1. Introduction to safety analysis
  2. Different types of FMEA
  3. Diagnostic coverage & HW test concept
  4. Failure modes of HW elements
  5. Calculation of hardware metrics: SPFM, LFM, PMHF
  6. FMEDA (Failure Mode and Effect and Diagnostic Analysis)
  7. Fault tree analysis (FTA)
  8. Development of a hardware component as a safety element out of context

 

Day 4 – ISO-26262 Safety developement at SW level, SW safety and dependant failure analysis

  1. Product development at the software level
  2. Specification of software requirements
  3. Software architectural design and pattern
  4. SW safety mechanisms
  5. Dependent failure analysis (memory, timing, execution, exchange of information)
  6. Software unit verification, integration
  7. Calibration and configuration
  8. Proven-in-use argument
  9. Qualification of software components

 

Day 5 – Exam

The exam will be taken at the end of the course.

In case the individual trainee achieves a minimum of 75% of the total score he/she will receive a certificate valid for a period of 3 years.

In case of non-achievement of the minimum score he/she will receive a confirmation of participation.

Upon the agreement of the individual we publish his/her certificate and validity on our registry accessible through our website.
