Lead Researcher
Lead Researcher

We are looking to strengthen our team in our office in Fribourg Switzerland, with a passionate Research Team Lead to join us.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Influence and drive research initiatives for long-term ambitious research to advance safe and secure technology.
  • Represent CertX in several EU and Swiss funded research projects such as AWARD, Orchestra and OPEVA.
  • Form internal partnerships, alignment, and work effectively across teams and disciplines throughout the company to execute the research projects.
  • Collaborate with domain leads to identify priority research areas.
  • Influence the progress of relevant research communities by producing publications.
  • Analyse research data for trends and patterns, implement/ validate ML models and communicate the results of statistical evaluations with research partners.
  • Keep abreast of new functional safety standards and developments in functional safety practices and technologies such as ISO 21448 (SOTIF), ISO 21434 and AI standards.
  • Contribute to research that can be applied to product development in the company, (e.g., develop new certification schemes and principals for autonomous vehicles).
  • Handle reporting and financial management.
  • Mentor researchers.
  • Engage in efforts such as recruiting, cross-functional partnerships, diversity & inclusion initiatives, or site initiatives.

    Minimum Educational / Professional Qualifications:

    • 7+ years of work experience in a faculty, industry, or government research position with primary emphasis on one of Automotive/Cybersecurity/AI research.
    • D. and established track record of leading influential research, e.g. as evidenced by high-impact publications at peer-reviewed conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI, IJCAI) and journals.
    • 5+ years of experience in data science, proficiency with data mining and statistical analysis, advanced experience in pattern recognition and predictive modelling.
    • Knowledge of the functional safety standard ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 (SOTIF).
    • Experience building and executing on long-term research strategies.
    • Experience in handling the relationships in a multinational (research) project.
    • Experience communicating research for technical, as well as non-technical audiences.
    • Knowledge in a programming language.
    • Excellent communication skills in English (min. proficient user – C1).

    Good to Have:

    • 10+ years of work experience in a faculty, industry, or government research position with primary emphasis on one of Automotive/Cybersecurity/AI research.
    • Track record of translating research into business impact.
    • Experience working with a variety of cross-functional peers and stakeholders (e.g., product managers, data scientists, designers, engineers, policy, communications, marketing).
    • Experience in developing and debugging in Python or C/C++.
    • Experience in managing research teams in an industrial setting.
    • Knowledge in standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ISO 13849, IEC 62443, ISO 21434 or experience with AI systems is a strong plus.
    • French or German language skills are a strong plus.

    Head of Cybersecurity

    Head of Cybersecurity

    to lead and grow our automotive cyber security business in Europe and worldwide from our office in Memmingen/Germany

     

    Key Responsibilities of the Role:

    • Part of the CertX Management Team responsible for the Cybersecurity department. Reporting to administratively to the MD of CertX GmbH and functional to CEO of CertX
    • Lead auditor / assessor for evaluating cybersecurity ISA/IEC 62443, and ISO/SAE 21434, UN ECE R155 & R156, following ISO/PAS 5112 or VDA A-CSMS Red Volume guidance.
    • Investigating about testing procedures and related infrastructure for evaluating vehicle / automotive subsystem security.
    • Initiating, guiding, and conducting international research projects for automotive and/or industrial cybersecurity, and related topics

      Educational / Professional Qualifications:

      • Studies in either cyber security, informatics, telecommunications, electrical engineering or similar sciences in with confirmed analytical competencies (Master, PhD or equivalent).
      • 5 years’ experience in automotive CS projects, industrial background is a strong plus.
      • Experience in certification projects (either as auditor or auditee).

      Key Competencies:

      • Ability to unlock business growth with a spirit of entrepreneurship.

      • Ability to build and lead a team.
      • In depth knowledge and proven experience in industry cybersecurity related standards such as IEC 62443 is mandatory.
      • Knowledge in automotive cyber security standards and regulations such as UN ECE R155, R156 ISO/SAE 21434 is a strong plus.
      • Further expertise in ISO/PAS 5112, CEN/TS 50701, ISO 27K series, ISO 15408/CC, ISO/SAE 24089 and knowledge in functional safety such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ISO 1384 is very welcome.
      • Knowledge about cyber security regulatory landscape (incl. EU NIS directive, EU Cybersecurity Act, EU GDPR, EU RED directive)
      • Very dynamic and initiative personality (selfstarter)
      • Excellent communication skills in English and German (both at least C1) is mandatory

      Automotive Research Engineer

      • Represent CertX and execute the funded research projects such as AWARD, Orchestra and OPEVA.
      • Support certification and inspections projects according to ISO 26262 under the supervision of the lead assessor
      • Keep abreast of new functional safety standards and developments in functional safety practices and technologies such as ISO 21448 (SOTIF), ISO 21434 and upcoming AI standards.

      Educational / Professional Qualifications:

      • Studies in either informatics, telecommunications, electrical engineering, or similar sciences in with confirmed analytical competencies (Master or equivalent).
      • Post graduate studies or 1-2 years of experience in the functional safety environment is a strong plus.

      Key Competencies:

      • Basic knowledge about functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 (SOTIF).
      • Motivation to conduct and run research projects to learn and grow with us.
      • Ability to handle the relationships in a multinational (research)project.
      • Dynamic and self-starting personality.
